Good Team Day

What Is Good Team Day?

November 26th is "Good Team Day" (Ii Chiimu no Hi) in Japan. Based on a wordplay reading 11/26 as "ii chiimu" (good team), it was established by the Best Team of the Year Executive Committee, organized by the groupware developer Cybozu, Inc., and is registered with the Japan Anniversary Association (it is said to date from 2008). Its purpose is to raise awareness of the importance of teamwork.

Aiming for a Society Full of Teamwork

Cybozu has developed software for sharing information within teams under the mission of "building a society full of teamwork." Good Team Day was created to spread that idea more widely.

• Origin of the date: Reading 11/26 as "ii (11) chiimu (26)"
• Established by: The Best Team of the Year Executive Committee, organized by Cybozu, Inc.
• Related event: The "Best Team of the Year" awards, honoring teams that showed outstanding teamwork and results that year
• Purpose: To raise awareness and encourage the teamwork that organizations need to grow

About the Best Team of the Year Awards

The Best Team of the Year awards honor teams that showed teamwork and earned strong results and recognition in Japan and abroad during the year. Winners have included teams behind products and services, among others, in many fields. The message is that "good teams" exist close to home, in workplaces and project groups as well.

Tips for Marking This Day

• Thank a teammate for something they recently helped you with
• Spend the first few minutes of a meeting sharing what your team does well
• Review how your team shares information and divides up work
• Chat about famous teams from sports or TV dramas

Good Teams Are Built Through Small Daily Efforts

Teamwork grows less from special events than from everyday words of encouragement and steady information sharing. November 26th is a day to put into words what makes your own team good.
