Why Oyamazaki Is Known as "Oil Town"

Centered on Rikyu Hachimangu Shrine, Oyamazaki flourished in the medieval period as the site of an oil monopoly guild known as "aburaza," making it the birthplace of Japan's oil-pressing industry. The area remains deeply connected to oil to this day.
