Every March 6th is also "Sports Newspaper Day" (スポーツ新聞の日, Supōtsu Shimbun no Hi) in Japan. On March 6, 1946, the Nikkan Sports (日刊スポーツ) launched as Japan's first sports specialty daily newspaper — dedicated exclusively to sports coverage and sports-related entertainment news.
