What Is Weights and Measures Day?

November 1st is "Weights and Measures Day" in Japan. It was established in 1952 by the then Ministry of International Trade and Industry (now the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry). It was originally held on June 7th, the date the earlier Measurement Act was promulgated, but moved to November 1st after the current Measurement Act took effect on November 1, 1993.
